Mr. Selvaraj is from a small village of Chinnapillayur in Salem district. An ex-railway employee, who lived with his wife Singaram and two daughters – Deepalakshmi and Thilagavadhi.
Mrs. Singaram fought deadly cancer and died sadly after which he moved to Trichy. Both her daughters are happily married and Selvaraj spent almost all his life savings on their weddings. Mr. Selvaraj worked for many years in a metal scrap shop in Trichy until it was closed. After the closure, Selvaraj continued working hard as a coolie to meet his needs. All his hard work is only for his promise to Mrs. Singaram to not to beseech for food when she is gone.
Mr. Selvaraj continues to support her daughters financially till date and his hard work can only inspire others! I never had an idea to write about Selvaraj today until he came to me and advised me to be kinder to people. I tend to raise my voice sometimes when people do not maintain a queue and hinder the food distribution process. I am sorry, Mr. Selvaraj.
You never know when and who will teach you life’s lessons. And today, from Mr. Selvaraj, I learned that I should always be humane even at tough times. Thank you Mr. Selvaraj.
